What will you be doing?
To expand our team, we are looking for a PLC Engineer who wants to work on projects where our clients lack the specific expertise or capacity. This makes working at TRIBE highly dynamic and challenging. You will always deal with different projects and systems for various clients in diverse environments and countries. This is not a standard routine at a single fixed location. Therefore, you must be able to adapt quickly to new environments and possess a healthy dose of self-confidence. You are the one who gets the job done!
As a PLC Engineer at TRIBE, you are involved in automation projects from A to Z. You use your PLC expertise to successfully realize machinery, production lines, and process installations. From the moment the layout is on the table, you translate client requirements into a well-thought-out PLC design, stable software, and successful implementation. You work closely with colleagues and proactively provide technical input within the project team.
Other key activities involve:
- Working on industrial automation projects from the concept phase through to commissioning;
- Designing, programming, and testing PLC, SCADA, and HMI control systems;
- Working with Siemens control systems such as S7, TIA Portal, and PCS7;
- Translating client requirements and specifications into functional documentation and technical designs;
- Simulating, testing, and fine-tuning the software you developed;
- Monitoring project progress and contributing ideas on scheduling and technical choices;
- Mentoring and supporting Junior PLC Engineers;
- Contributing to the optimization and standardization of PLC software;
- Implementing and commissioning control systems at client locations, both nationally and occasionally internationally.
What do you need for this role?
For this position, we are looking for someone with technical insight and a healthy dose of guts. Whether you have two right hands or, as a lefty, two left hands, it doesn’t matter to us. What counts is that you know what you’re doing. You have at least a vocational degree (MBO 4) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Marine Officer, or a similar field and have already gained the necessary practical experience. Engineering is in your DNA; that much is clear.
You hold a valid category B driver’s license and work in a safe and responsible manner. You already possess certifications such as VCA VOL and NEN 3140 VP, or you are willing to obtain them through us. Experience with NEN 3840 VP is considered a distinct advantage.
Additionally, you are someone who works independently, thinks in terms of solutions, and takes ownership of your work. You communicate clearly with colleagues and clients and know exactly what is needed to get the job done right. You can be serious when the situation demands it, but you never lose your sense of humor. To us, that last part is just as important as your technical skills.

The TRIBE office is located in Houten, but we work on projects throughout the Netherlands and across the globe. We always plan these projects together with you, ensuring that travel time is minimized so you can fully enjoy your work, friends, family, and hobbies. Balance is key.
