Safe and well-prepared for offshore.

TRIBE Engineering is active in diverse offshore projects, both within the offshore wind sector and the offshore oil and gas industry. Working in this environment requires not only technical expertise but also a high level of safety awareness. Offshore safety training for engineers is therefore a standard part of the preparation before our engineers start working on-site. Depending on the type of project, these include GWO, HUET, and BOSIET training.

GWO – The standard for offshore wind

The Global Wind Organisation, better known as GWO, has developed an international safety standard for everyone working in the offshore wind industry. This training focuses on working safely at heights, performing rescues correctly, handling emergencies at sea, fire safety, and providing first aid in remote offshore environments. The GWO training is strongly focused on safety awareness and preparedness, ensuring that engineers know exactly what to do when unexpected or critical situations arise. As such, this training forms an essential foundation for working safely within offshore wind projects.

HUET – Emergency procedures for offshore helicopter transport

Many offshore locations are only accessible by helicopter. The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training, abbreviated as HUET, prepares engineers for an emergency landing at sea. During the training, they gain insights into pre-flight briefings and applicable safety procedures, ensuring they know exactly what is expected of them before and during the flight. Additionally, engineers learn how to act in emergency situations during the flight and in the event of a ditching. Through realistic simulations, they practice techniques for escaping from a submerged or capsized helicopter. Attention is also given to survival techniques following a ditching, such as safely exiting the aircraft and managing the situation at sea while awaiting rescue. The training is intensive and realistic, providing engineers with optimal preparation for one of the most critical scenarios in the offshore industry.

BOSIET – Essential for offshore oil & gas

For projects in the offshore oil and gas industry, the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training, or BOSIET, is often mandatory. This training is more extensive than the GWO courses, as it focuses specifically on the risks associated with permanent offshore installations, such as platforms. Engineers are trained in helicopter safety, firefighting, first aid, sea survival, and correct emergency response procedures tailored to the offshore oil and gas industry. This training ensures that engineers are optimally prepared for the complex and unforeseen circumstances encountered in these offshore environments.

What makes these training courses so special

What GWO, HUET, and BOSIET training courses have in common is that they go beyond being just a mandatory certification. The courses are intensive, realistic, and at times even push personal boundaries. Engineers learn to handle stressful situations, build confidence in their own actions, and develop a strong safety mindset.

At TRIBE. Engineering, we do not view these trainings merely as a formality, but as an essential part of professional offshore operations. The training ensures that our engineers can perform their work with confidence, responsibility, and pride, regardless of the offshore project's location worldwide. As such, offshore safety training for engineers is a vital component of performing operations safely and responsibly at sea.
